<h3>Burg Hochosterwitz </h3>

Hochosterwitz Castle was first mentioned in a document in 860. 14 gates have to be passed before the stronghold is reached. This technically sophisticated architecture made the castle impregnable for enemies. The medieval castle houses a castle chapel with charming ceiling paintings and frescoes. The altar dates back to 1673, and historical interiors, weapons and paintings are also on display. Hochosterwitz Castle belonged to a family called the Khevenhüller for 470 years. The castle is open to visitors Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00.
