The MuseumPasseier is located in St. Leonhard in Passeier in <a href="https://www.greenhabitat.at/en/destinationen/suedtirol" target="_blank">South Tyrol</a>. His main house is in the listed farm building ( barn ) of the Sandhoff, the birthplace of the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer (1767-1810). This includes the permanent exhibitions " Heroes &amp; Hofer ", Heroes &amp; We and "Tol &amp; Leit" in the open-air area. The MuseumPasseier also has branch offices.The museum is run by the Andreas Hofer Talmuseum-Sandhoff association; its members are the three communities of the Passeier Valley - St. Martin in Passeier, St. Leonhard in Passeier and Moos in Passeier -, the Tyrolean Matriculation Foundation and the St. Martin Museum Association.

The lake can be circumnavigated in just 1.5-2 hours, thus inviting young and old to hike. Moreover, the path is prepared in such a way that it is also suitable for strollers. Around the lake, there is also a nature discovery trail, which provides information about the local flora and fauna in a vivid way. For example, you can learn about the different tree cones and rocks, what actually happens in an avalanche and what type of fish live in the lake. The lake is not suitable for swimming due to its coldness even in midsummer. Even in winter, a winter hike or cross-country skiing is possible on the 2.6 km long lake trail. 

For a side trip at Obersee, you can continue from Lake Antholz directly across the state border to Staller Sattel in East Tyrol. However, it should be noted that this pass has the peculiarity of a one-way system. Traffic is alternately released in one direction because the road is very narrow and leads through a dense forest.

On the Italian side, it is very narrow, at points only one way, with traffic lights regulating the contraflow. Starting in 2007, a toll of 5 euros was planned for cars and motorcycles, the revenue to be split between Italy and Austria, but has not yet been implemented.
