Hofburg

The Hofburg is a historical architectural monument located in the centre of Vienna. It was built in the 13th century. This complex that features a magnificent baroque interior was the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty. Hofburg also has imperial apartments & a silver museum. Since 1946 Hofburg has been used as Austria's president's official residence and workplace.

Over the centuries, this unique place has been extended and remodelled. Various sections were built, such as the Imperial Chapel (Hofkapelle or Burgkapelle) and the Imperial Library (Hofbibliothek). The Spanish Equestrian School (Hofreitschule) is another expanded area in Hofburg. In the middle of Vienna, visitors can admire the world-famous shows of the noble Lippizaner horses. The Hofburg is also featured on the 20-euro Renaissance commemorative coin.
