Riegersburg
Riegersburg Castle is one of the landmarks of Styria. The majestic castle is enthroned on a 482-metre-high volcanic rock. The building was first mentioned in a document in 1138. Over the centuries, the area was rebuilt and expanded. The owners also changed, and today it is owned by the Liechtenstein family. Riegersburg Castle was never captured during its existence. Instead, countless visitors nowadays enjoy the completely preserved castle. Eleven bastions, four kilometres of defence walls, two moats and seven gates protect Veste Riegersburg. Inside, in addition to the impressive architecture, there is a castle, witch and weapon museum to discover. Interesting facts are conveyed via audio guide or on a guided tour. A special highlight is the bird of prey show. Experience the art of falconry and get to know the kings of the air. Riegersburg Castle is closed during the winter months.
